Mumbai, Aug. 7 -- Marking a major political and economic push coinciding with Ashadi Ekadashi, the Maharashtra government has delivered long-awaited financial relief to the state's agrarian sector. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the first installment of nearly Rs 5,099 crore has been successfully credited directly to the bank accounts of 6,22,000 farmers under the ambitious Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karj-Mafi Yojana.
Fadnavis confirmed that with this first batch of disbursements, all eligible farmers who have completed their Aadhaar authentication now officially see their loan accounts marked as "Nil" (Zero).
