Dimapur, June 3 -- Dimapur police have set up an SIT, headed by a senior police officer, to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the recent rape case of a minor girl, given the extreme sensitivity of the matter.
Dimapur DCP (Crime), in a release, today said the guardians of the minor victim lodged an FIR at Dimapur women police station on May 25, and a regular case had been registered under sections 64(2)(f)(i)(m), 65(1), 71, and 74 of the BNS.
It said based on the statements provided by the victim to the investigating officer, police had arrested two accused identified as O Watimeren Jamir (43) and Tsuktimongba Ao (37).
Both the accused were produced before the court and have been remanded to police custody.
