Bhubaneswar, March 19 -- A preliminary survey by multiple agencies has revealed the presence of diamonds in Odisha's Nuapada district, marking a significant development in the state's mineral exploration efforts.
State Minister for Steel and Mines, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, informed the Assembly that traces of diamonds were found at Kalamidadar in the Nuapada district.
He added that detailed technical, economic, and feasibility studies are currently underway to determine whether mining operations would be commercially viable.
Beyond diamonds, several other valuable minerals have also been identified across the state. Ruby deposits have been detected in the Hinjilibahal-Jilingibar region of Kalahandi district.
