Ranchi, March 4 -- Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's car was fined for overspeeding on Kanke Ring Road in Ranchi, officials said on Wednesday.

According to traffic authorities, the violation was detected on March 1 near Birsa Agricultural University.

The car was reportedly travelling above the permitted speed limit of 60 km per hour in the area.

Officials said the violation was captured by the Automatic Traffic Monitoring System (ATMS) cameras installed on the stretch.

The automated system generated an e-challan of Rs 1,000 for overspeeding.

A Ranchi traffic police official said the ATMS cameras remain operational round the clock at major intersections and key roads in the city.
