BD NarayankarBengaluru, July 15 -- Facing mounting political pressure over the proposed Bidadi integrated township and a satyagraha threat from former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, the Karnataka government on Wednesday announced that it would constitute an expert committee to examine the project's legal, technical and other aspects before taking a final decision.

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the panel, to be formed within two to three months, would comprise experts, officials and stakeholders. He also ruled out any forcible acquisition of land, asserting that no farmer would be compelled to part with property and that the government would decide the project's future only after receiving the committee's recommendations.
