Bengaluru, May 28 -- Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has emerged at the centre of Karnataka's escalating political developments after senior Congress leader R V Deshpande indicated that the party high command has already taken a decision on leadership change in the state.

According to Deshpande's remarks, Shivakumar is expected to take over as Chief Minister once Chief Minister Siddaramaiah submits his resignation and the formal process is completed, including its acceptance and subsequent constitutional steps.

Deshpande outlined that the transition cannot proceed without the completion of procedural requirements, adding that the exact timing of resignation, acceptance, and oath-taking is yet to be decided.
