Chandigarh, Nov. 19 -- Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, who was deported to India from the US in connection with the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, had escaped abroad using a fake Indian passport, and Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) had first alerted central agencies about his location.

Officials say Anmol travelled out of India on a forged passport issued under the name Bhanu Pratap.

Punjab Police traced the fake passport and provided the key documents needed to initiate his deportation. A separate case was also registered against him for obtaining a fraudulent passport.
