Mumbai, May 1 -- In the backdrop of the inauguration of the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link Road, a demand has been raised to name the route after Veer Hutatma Shingroba Dhangar.

The demand has been put forward by the Dhangar Pratishthan, Thane district, which has formally approached the state leadership seeking recognition of the historical figure.

The organisation's president, Deepak Kurkunde, met Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and submitted a memorandum outlining the proposal. A similar representation was also emailed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the government to consider the request.
