Nagpur, May 28 -- The demand for launching direct international flights from Nagpur to South-East Asia gained momentum on Thursday, with renewed efforts aimed at strengthening Vidarbha's global air connectivity.

The Association for Industrial Development (AID) submitted a representation to union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol in Nagpur in the presence of union Minister Nitin Gadkari, seeking the commencement of direct international flight services from the city.

During discussions, AID Chief Executive Officer Dr Kapil Chandrayan informed Mohol that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur has become fully operational round the clock following the successful completion of runway recarpeting work.
