New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- The Delhi government has taken a major step towards strengthening its capacity to effectively respond during natural and man-made disasters, and will be setting up its own State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
The move is expected to ensure quick deployment of a trained and specialized force at disaster sites, enable effective relief and rescue operations, and help minimise the loss of life and property.
Apart from setting up the SDRF, the Delhi government will also provide specialised training to Fire Department personnel and Civil Defence volunteers so that local manpower has the necessary skills, and can contribute to relief and rescue operations with better coordination during disasters.
