New Delhi, July 18 -- In a major education reform aimed at reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the Delhi government has replaced the mandatory "Essentiality Certificate" for opening private schools with a self-certification system.
Approved by Education Minister Ashish Sood, the approach aligns Delhi's school recognition process with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, and shifts the focus from administrative approvals to compliance with prescribed educational and infrastructure standards.
Under this decision, the Directorate of Education will remove decades-old administrative restrictions under the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSER), 1973.
