New Delhi, April 23 -- : Delhi woke up to a relatively pleasant but breezy morning on Thursday, only for the heat to intensify sharply as the day progressed. The minimum temperature settled around 25.4degC, but by 8 am it had already climbed to nearly 33degC.

Several weather stations across the city crossed the 40degC mark, with Ridge's temperature soaring to 43degC, pushing the capital closer to isolated heatwave conditions.

Safdarjung, Delhi's based Observatory, and Ayanagar temperatures logged at 41.4degC, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Palam and Lodi Road also touched 41.6degC and 41.4degC, respectively.
