New Delhi, June 22 -- Delhi on Monday witnessed a sharp deterioration in air quality, with the city's average Air Quality Index (AQI) crossing the 200-mark and entering the "poor" category.
However, authorities decided against invoking Stage-I measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's AQI stood at 228, a steep jump from 127 recorded a day earlier.
Despite the decline in air quality, authorities ruled out the implementation of GRAP-I, which is typically considered when the AQI remains in the "poor" category (201-300) for a sustained period.
