New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Delhi witnessed a generally cloudy and humid Saturday with light rain and thunderstorms at several places, even as the maximum temperature at Safdarjung climbed to 36.4 degrees Celsius, nearly three degrees above normal.
The national capital received 1.8 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am, followed by another 3.4 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, taking the total at the Safdarjung observatory to 5.2 mm during the day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning occurred at many places in Delhi during the day.
