New Delhi, March 12 -- A Delhi court has awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to Kapil, a Delhi Police constable for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a travel agency owner.
Special Judge Ajay Gupta, who had convicted the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on February 28, 2026, pronounced the sentence on March 11.
The court while awarding the sentence also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
The court observed that the convict, being a police official, was expected to discharge his duties honestly but instead involved himself in corruption.
