New Delhi, May 19 -- The Delhi government is planning to establish dedicated collection centres for the dignified disposal and recycling of old and damaged religious idols, which will ensure the re-use of resources, and make sure the idols are treated with dignity.

In line with this, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced a special public participation campaign for the collection and recycling of damaged idols of Hindu deities across the city, to be done in a manner that ensures dignity.

According to CM, the campaign would be entirely citizen-centric and invited suggestions directly from national capital's residents to help shape the final framework of the initiative through people participation.
