New Delhi, May 26 -- The Delhi Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday decided to increase the annual income eligibility limit for providing ration under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, raising it to Rs 2.5 lakh.
According to Delhi's Food and Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, now people with an annual income up to Rs 2.5 lakh will be eligible for new ration cards, and ration will be provided to them through the Public Distribution System.
Earlier, the annual family income eligibility limit for ration cards had been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh under the Delhi Food Security Rules, 2026, with the objective of bringing more poor and lower middle-class families under the welfare net.
