New Delhi, March 13 -- Delhi government has announced plans to rename the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC) as part of a broader effort to revive development and heritage conservation in Old Delhi.

The decision was discussed during the 38th board meeting of SRDC held on Friday chaired by CM Rekha Gupta.

The meeting reviewed several issues related to the preservation of Old Delhi's historical character and the pace of redevelopment in the Shahjahanabad area.

The functioning of the corporation during the previous government's tenure also came under scrutiny, with concerns raised about financial irregularities in some projects.
