New Delhi, Jan. 11 -- Delhi Police's Crime Branch on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old man who was wanted in a sexual assault and criminal intimidation case registered in 2021 in the Outer District of the city, an officer said.
The accused, Sumit Mishra, had been on the run for over five years and was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) by the court in 2021.
The matter came to light in 2021 when a female victim alleged that Mishra, under the pretext of assisting her with a civil defense job application, sexually assaulted her, impregnated her, and circulated nude videos of her to her family members, thereby threatening and traumatizing her.
Sections 376 and 506 IPC were invoked against the accused in the FIR that was filed on March 7, 2021....
