New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- A Delhi Court on Thursday, while sharply rapping the Delhi Police, granted bail to TV actor Ashish Kapoor in connection with a rape case that took place at the house of an Air India official in North Delhi's Civil Lines.

The court noted in its order that the Delhi Police, despite getting his custodial remand, didn't make sincere efforts to recover the cell phone of the victim.

Also, no searches were carried out as per law.

Deepak Sharma, the defense counsel for Kapoor, said that his client was falsely framed in the case to extort money.

"Despite having been taken on police custody remand, no sincere efforts were made to recover the mobile phone. No searches, as per law, were carried out. There is nothing on record...
