New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- A Delhi court today permitted Sheikh Abdul Rashid, jailed Lok Sabha MP from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, popularly known as 'Engineer Rashid', to cast his vote in the upcoming Vice-President election scheduled for September 9.

Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit of the Patiala House Court granted Rashid's request, allowing him to participate in the electoral process despite being in custody.

Rashid's lawyer, Vikhyat Oberoi, informed that the MP would not be required to pay any travel-related expenses immediately.

However, he must provide an undertaking to cover these costs if directed by the court, depending on the outcome of his pending appeal before the Delhi High Court.
