New Delhi, June 24 -- Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav on Wednesday questioned the Delhi Government's newly announced slum rehabilitation policy, alleging that a significant number of slum residents may remain outside its ambit despite the extension of the eligibility cut-off date.
Yadav said that while official estimates suggest that over 30 lakh people live in Delhi's Jhuggi-Jhopri (JJ) clusters, the proposed rehabilitation policy is expected to benefit around 20 lakh residents from approximately 4-5 lakh families. He claimed that the number of beneficiaries appeared lower than expected despite the cut-off date being extended from January 1, 2015, to January 1, 2025.
