New Delhi, June 22 -- : The Delhi Congress on Monday questioned the ongoing eviction and demolition action in several settlements along the Yamuna floodplains, alleging that it contradicted an assurance earlier given by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding existing structures in the O-Zone.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav said that notices had been issued to around 310 households in the Yamuna Bazar-Kashmere Gate area by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), citing flood risks and asking residents to vacate the area. He claimed that many families residing there for generations were facing uncertainty due to the absence of alternative housing arrangements.
