New Delhi, Jan. 23 -- The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee today said that the state government was responsible for a severe drinking water shortage affecting large parts of the capital.

DPCC President Devender Yadav alleged that numerous colonies in North, North-West, South, and South-West Delhi have been facing acute water shortage since January 20, but the state government didn't do anything to solve the problem.

He attributed the crisis to reduced supply from the Munak canal, where repair works are being undertaken by the Haryana government, coupled with high ammonia levels in the Yamuna river.
