Varanasi, Oct. 5 -- Clearing confusion surrounding the date of Deepawali, the Kashi Vidvat Parishad (BHU) clarified that the festival of lights will be celebrated on October 20.
The Parishad's National General Secretary, Prof Ramnarayan Dwivedi, said that based on religious scriptures and traditional mathematics some scholars were considering October 20 as the date of Deepawali, while others, based on established mathematics, were considering October 21.
To address this confusion, the Kashi Vidvat Parishad, after extensive discussions with scholars, has concluded that Deepawali will be celebrated on October 20, in accordance with religious scriptures.
