Motihari, April 5 -- The death toll in the spurious liquor reportedly containing Methanol in East Champaran district of Bihar has risen to 10, with two deaths reported on Sunday, five days after the incident. While six people have allegedly lost their eyesight, around 18 others are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
Forensic investigations have confirmed that the victims consumed spurious liquor laced with methanol (methyl alcohol), a highly toxic industrial chemical.
The deceased have been identified as residents of various villages, including Jaisinghpur Pulwaghat, Parsouna, Balganga, Hardiya, Mushari Tola and Shankarsaraiya. Two of the victims succumbed Sunday, indicating the continuing severity of the incident.
