Yadgir, June 13 -- Karnataka Minister for Small Scale Industries Sharana Basappa Darshanapur on Friday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Ahmedabad plane crash, terming it a "major national tragedy" and citing the need for moral accountability.
Speaking to reporters here, the Minister said the incident ranks among the gravest aviation disasters the country has witnessed, and that it has triggered widespread concern and analysis across sectors.
"This is a massive tragedy for the country. The Prime Minister, who is known to the people as biggest leader of the nation, must own moral responsibility and resign, along with the concerned Union ministers," he said.
