Nurpur (Himachal Pradesh), Sept. 9 -- Damtal Police have launched a major crackdown on illegal forest produce smuggling, recovering 84 logs of khair wood, two vehicles and tree-cutting equipment during a naka operation and registering a case against nine persons, an official said on Wednesday.
Superintendent of police Nurpur Ilma Afroze told UNI that Damtal police team was conducting patrolling and checking in the area on September 9 when it intercepted an Innova car (PB08 BL-9788) and an unregistered pickup at Indora Mor on the Pathankot-Mukerian road.
