Ashok RainaDharamshala, June 4 -- Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will undergo medical treatment on his left knee in New Delhi later this month, according to an announcement by his office on Thursday.

The 90-year-old Nobel Peace Prize Laureate is scheduled to travel to the national capital on Friday from his residence in Dharamshala.

His office said the procedure is related to his left knee, and added that he is expected to visit the region of Ladakh by the end of June for an extended stay.

Followers of the Tibetan spiritual leader have traditionally organized special prayers ahead of major medical procedures, reflecting concerns about his health in recent years.
