Raigad, Nov. 2 -- Cyclone Montha has triggered a severe financial crisis for fishing communities along the Raigad and Palghar coastline, with continuous adverse sea conditions forcing boats to remain docked and leaving thousands of fishing families struggling for daily subsistence.
Fishermen have reported losses running into lakhs of rupees as operations remain suspended due to repeated cyclone alerts and rough seas.
In view of the crisis, the Raigad District Fishermen Central Cooperative Society Limited has submitted a memorandum to Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane seeking urgent relief.
