Bengaluru/New Delhi, July 28 -- The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) on Tuesday directed Karnataka to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu for the next 15 days, despite the state's contention that deficient monsoon rainfall has left it struggling to meet even drinking water requirements.
The committee, meeting in New Delhi, also recommended the release of around 4 TMC of water during the period, reviving the long-running inter-state dispute over sharing of Cauvery waters.
