Glasgow, July 28 -- National record holder Sarvesh Kushare continued his remarkable rise in international athletics by winning the silver medal in the men's high jump at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, adding another major accolade to his breakthrough season here on Monday.
The Indian high jumper cleared 2.25m in the final before three unsuccessful attempts at 2.28m saw him finish second. Jamaica's Romaine Beckford clinched the gold on countback, while England's Kimani Jack settled for bronze after clearing 2.20m.
The silver comes barely weeks after Kushare rewrote the Indian record with a leap of 2.31m at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, eclipsing Tejaswin Shankar's eight-year-old mark of 2.29m.
