Bhubaneswar, March 27 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has called on the Odisha government to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol, diesel, and cooking gas to provide relief to the public.

In a statement issued in Bhubaneswar, BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Lenin Mohanty said that the ongoing tensions involving Israel, the United States, and Iran have triggered a global fuel crisis. This situation, he noted, has created uncertainty among the public regarding the availability of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas.

Although the government has repeatedly assured that there is no shortage, Mohanty said these statements have failed to dispel public concerns.
