Hathras, April 24 -- A young dalit man died by suicide late Thursday night while in police custody at Chandpa police station, triggering serious concerns within the police department.
Following the incident, the station in-charge and a clerk were immediately suspended, and an FIR has been registered against them on charges of negligence on Friday morning.
The youth, identified as Chandrapal, a resident of Ghaziabad, had been taken into custody in connection with a case involving the alleged abduction of a minor girl. The complaint was filed on April 18 by the girl's father.
