Hyderabad, Feb. 19 -- The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) has inaugurated a Rain Gardens pilot R&D facility aimed at enhancing groundwater recharge and strengthening urban water resilience through green infrastructure.
The Rain Gardens Pilot R&D Facility, a science-driven initiative under CSIR-NGRI's institutional water management programme, was formally inaugurated on February 18.
The initiative traces its origins to 2007 as an in-situ stormwater harvesting experiment, during which nine recharge ponds and a rain garden were developed within the institute's campus to capture and infiltrate stormwater runoff.
