Rio De Janeiro, March 16 -- Former Brazil national team manager Tite was sacked by Cruzeiro after the club's poor start to the Brazilian Serie A season.
The announcement followed a 3-3 home draw against Vasco da Gama, a result that left Cruzeiro 19th in the 20-team standings without a win in six games, according to Xinhua.
"We thank Tite and all his staff for the service they provided to Cruzeiro, which was marked by commitment and dedication, but our results and performances have led us to make this decisionto change," CEO Pedro Junio told reporters on Sunday.
He added that assistant coach Wesley Carvalho would assume the position on an interim basis untila permanent replacement is named.
