Hyderabad, Aug. 19 -- Telangana Agriculture Department Director Dr B Gopi, IAS, has called for a coordinated approach involving crop diversification, micro-irrigation and solar electrification to reduce water use and agricultural power consumption while improving farmers' incomes.
Speaking at a panel discussion on "Renewable Energy, Reliable Power, and Inclusive Development for Rural India" at the India Energy Summit & Expo-2026 in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Dr Gopi said farmers should gradually be transformed from electricity consumers into electricity producers.
