Patna, Feb. 24 -- : The Communist Party of India (CPI) today termed the proposed increase in commercial tax in urban local bodies, including the Patna Municipal Corporation, as anti-people.
CPI State Secretary Ram Naresh Pandey alleged here that the state government has directed all urban local bodies to increase commercial taxes by two to four times. He said that the proposed hike would impose a severe financial burden on residents in Patna Municipal Corporation and other urban local bodies across the state.
He accused the government of continuously taking anti-people decisions after returning to power. Earlier, bulldozers were used to evict the poor, and now the government is increasing taxes to add to their economic burden, he said. He...
