Ranchi/New Delhi, June 19 -- CPI(ML) Liberation has rejected allegations that its two MLAs in Jharkhand were responsible for the defeat of Congress candidate Pranav Jha in the Rajya Sabha election and has sought intervention from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

In a letter to Kharge, CPI(ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the party was shocked by reports blaming its legislators for Jha's defeat in the June 18 Rajya Sabha election from Jharkhand.

The party asserted that both its MLAs voted for the Congress nominee in accordance with the decision taken at the meeting of opposition legislators. It further claimed that polling agents had verified the votes before the ballots were cast.
