Ranchi, Oct. 29 -- The Jharkhand State Committee of the Communist Party of India, Marxist-Leninist, CPI(ML) has strongly condemned the arrest of Madhavchandra Kunkul, a Zila Parishad member from West Singhbhum, along with several other local leaders.

The party alleged that the arrests were made to suppress a peaceful protest demanding compensation for the family of a girl who died in a road accident at Singhpokharia a month ago and to stifle the ongoing agitation against frequent accidents along the mineral transport routes.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the CPI(ML) demanded the immediate release of all arrested leaders and called upon the government to ensure the safety of people residing along the mineral transport corridor....
