Siliguri, April 6 -- Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday said a veteran CPI-M leader's statement about the transfer of a section of Left votes to the BJP has vindicated what TMC was saying for long.
Addressing an election rally in Siliguri, Banerjee referred to Asok Bhattacharya, a former MLA from Siliguri, ex-mayor and former state urban development minister, who recently said that in a bid to counter the TMC, a section of Left votes was indirectly helping the BJP, a trend that should stop.
Describing the veteran CPI-M leader's statement as a "delayed one", Banerjee said he was "glad" to hear such an admission, adding that the TMC had long maintained that Left votes were shifting towards the BJP.
