New Delhi, April 10 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Friday called for broader political consultations on the implementation of women's reservation, criticizing the Centre's latest proposals as politically motivated and procedurally flawed.

In a statement issued by its Politburo, the party reiterated its long-standing support for reserving one-third of seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies, while objecting to what it described as repeated attempts to tie the measure to contentious processes like delimitation and the Census.
