New Delhi, Feb. 1 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday describing the union Budget as "thoroughly anti-people and anti-federal" that prioritises corporate interests while imposing steep cuts on welfare spending, and hitting agriculture and state finances.
In a statement issued by its Polit Bureau, the CPI(M) said the Budget of the Modi government laid bare its "uncritical commitment to promoting the narrow interests of a few big business houses and the wealthy at the cost of working people and socially oppressed sections of society."The party took particular aim at the government's emphasis on fiscal discipline, arguing that it has become a euphemism for tax concessions to corporates and the affluent.
