New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday raised serious concerns over the methodology and questions proposed for Census 2027, alleging that the exercise could be used to advance the BJP's "narrow political agenda" and have far-reaching implications for citizenship, electoral rights, delimitation and political representation.
In a memorandum submitted to the Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner, CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby said the party had sought urgent changes to the Census methodology, including safeguards against the collection and linkage of personal information with other government databases.
