Lucknow, May 25 -- Amid recent reports of falling crude oil prices in the international market and the rising profits of Indian oil companies, the CPI (ML) has termed the decision to hike petrol and diesel prices for the fourth time in the last 11 days as incomprehensible and a step that imposes an unnecessary financial burden on the public.
Party State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav said here in a statement on Monday that the total increase of Rs 8 per liter over 11 days-including the latest hike of Rs 2.61 and Rs 2.71 per liter for petrol and diesel respectively-is a decision that will break the back of the common people and further inflame the already skyrocketing inflation.
