Patna, Jan. 23 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) on Friday called for 'Constitution and Voters Rights Protection Day' on January 25 at district headquarters across the country.
CPI (ML) State Secretary Kunal alleged here that under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), names of crores of voters are being arbitrarily deleted from electoral rolls, which he described as a direct attack on democracy and the Constitution.
Kunal said that in such a situation, the Election Commission's call to observe 'Voters' Rights Day' on January 25 is an insult.
He alleged that this exercise is being carried out under centre and state patronage.
