Srinagar, March 28 -- A Court in Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora sub-district has awarded community service to two individuals arrested for public intoxication, police said on Saturday.
The individuals - Zahoor Ahmad Lone of Chersoo and Hilal Ahmad Sheikh of Bahoo - were apprehended by Police Station Awantipora after being found in a drunken state at Main Chowk Awantipora and Bahoo Awantipora Chowk.
As part of the court's order, both offenders have been directed to perform cleaning duties at the court complex as community service.
"This action by the Hon'ble Court was a step towards promoting accountability and social responsibility through reformative measures," police said.
