Kolkata, May 4 -- With a three-tier security system in place, the Election Commission of India on Monday began counting the votes cast across 293 of the total 294 constituencies in the recent two-phase West Bengal Assembly polls.
Counting is not being held for the Falta constituency where repoll has been ordered by the Commission on May 21.
The counting began at 8 AM in 77 counting centres to decide the fate of 2,920 candidates.
According to a list provided by the commission, there are five counting centres for 11 Assembly segments of Kolkata.
