Varanasi, April 1 -- A case has been registered for contempt of court against the alleged cough syrup smuggling kingpin Shubham Jaiswal after he failed to comply with a court order to appear within 30 days.
Following the registration of the case late Tuesday night, Jaiswal has been officially declared an absconder, police disclosed on Wednesday.
According to police, a Fast Track Court had issued a proclamation notice against Jaiswal on February 27 under Section 84, directing him to appear within the stipulated period. When he failed to do so, a fresh case was filed, based on a complaint by investigating officer SI Dinesh Tripathi.
