Shimla, Nov. 5 -- Cases of corporal punishment in Himachal Pradesh's government schools seem to have no end, as each passing day brings new revelations of student abuse. After shocking incidents in Rohru (Shimla) and Chamba, yet another case has surfaced - this time from Solan district, where a Class-IV student was allegedly beaten mercilessly by his teacher, leaving him bleeding and injured.
The latest incident occurred on Tuesday at Government Primary School, Gaighat in Solan district. It is alleged that Jai Kumar, a Junior Basic Teacher (JBT), first struck the child with an iron scale and then slapped him repeatedly.
